The White House Office of National AIDS Policy The Office of National AIDS Policy will focus on coordinating our continuing domestic efforts to reduce the number of new infections in the U.S., in particular in segments of the population that are experiencing new or renewed increases in the rate of infection. In addition, the Office will be working to coordinate an increasingly integrated approach to the prevention, care and treatment of HIV/AIDS. The office will also emphasize the integration of domestic and international efforts to combat HIV/AIDS.

National Institutes of Health Division of AIDS (DAIDS) The Division of Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome (DAIDS) was formed in 1986 to develop and implement the national research agenda to address the HIV/AIDS epidemic. Specifically, the mission of DAIDS is to help ensure an end to the HIV/AIDS epidemic by increasing basic knowledge of the pathogenesis and transmission of the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), supporting the development of therapies for HIV infection and its complications and co-infections, and supporting the development of vaccines and other prevention strategies.

Florida Department of Health Bureau of HIV/AIDS The Bureau of HIV/AIDS provides leadership, policy development and technical assistance that supports education and prevention services through 67 county health departments and 31 community-based organizations. Supports a statewide Community Planning Group that develops a comprehensive prevention plan; oversees public health HIV counseling, testing and partner notification services and conducts epidemiological research. Promotes implementation of treatment protocols for HIV-infected pregnant women; provides and promotes community-based patient care services to persons infected with HIV. Collects and maintains surveillance data to analyze trends and conduct special investigations to support prevention initiatives at the local level; allocates prevention, early intervention, surveillance and patient care resources statewide. Implements the statewide Ryan White Care Act Consortia and ADAP Program. Implements the Housing Opportunities for People with AIDS (HOPWA) program. Oversees the Hepatitis and Liver Failure program.

Health Resources and Services Administration HIV/AIDS Bureau The HIV/AIDS Bureau (HAB) of the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) was formed in August 1997 to consolidate all programs funded under the Ryan White Comprehensive AIDS Resources Emergency (CARE) Act. The CARE Act was signed into law on August 15, 1990 to improve the quality and availability of care for people with HIV/AIDS and their families. Amended and reauthorized in May 1996, and November 2000 the Act is named after the Indiana teenager, Ryan White, who became an active public educator on HIV/AIDS after he contracted the syndrome. He died the same year the legislation was passed.

UF Rainbow Center at Shands Jacksonville The center is the only comprehensive pediatric and family-focused HIV and AIDS program in Northeast Florida. We are located on the third floor of Shands Jacksonville's Clinical Center building and provide primary, secondary and tertiary care for HIV-exposed and infected individuals and families living in North Florida and South Georgia. Beyond basic medical care, the center provides case management, health education, nutritional and mental health counseling. We also work to provide services through collaborations and partnerships with Children's Medical Services in our surrounding area, including Daytona Beach and Deland. In addition, the center has access to national research protocols which, depending on a patient's history and health status, may make him or her eligible to participate in certain clinical studies and trials.

The AIDS Institute The AIDS Institute (TAI) began as a grass-roots community advocacy effort in the late 1980s. In 1992, this advocacy network became incorporated as Florida AIDS Action, a nonprofit organization. Over the years, TAI expanded its vision to become a leading national public policy research, advocacy, and education agency with offices in Tampa and Washington, DC. Affiliated with the Division of Infectious Diseases and Tropical Medicine at the University of South Florida College of Medicine, The AIDS Institute remains focused on HIV/AIDS while incorporating work on related healthcare issues such as Hepatitis, as well as other infectious and chronic diseases.

For AIDS Care Today (FACT) FACT is a full service HIV/AIDS resource center that has bilingual information. The principle service offered is medical financial assistance for doctor visits, lab work and medications to employed, HIV positive individuals residing in Pinellas County, who are not on Disability, Medicaid or Medicare. Additional services available include: a resource library with over 4000 books, periodicals, audio and videotapes, computer and internet access, monthly collaborative dinner, Personal Needs and Food Pantry. To promote awareness and HIV/AIDS prevention FACT works closely with diverse aspects of the Tampa Bay Community.

AIDS Service Organization of Pinellas, Inc. (ASAP) ASAP, AIDS Service Association of Pinellas, Inc is a division of The Hospice of the Florida Suncoast, offering an extensive range of HIV/AIDS services. ASAP includes these four distinct programs: ACP, EMPACT, FACT, and Suncoast Resort Project. All four programs offer counseling services by licensed social workers to address issues such as sexuality, disclosure, addictions, adjustment/support in living with HIV/AIDS, depression and anxiety, loss and grief, and other concerns identified by the client. This program offers free HIV testing and counseling.
Mission: To provide high quality, culturally competent, compassionate services to persons infected or affected by HIV/AIDS by offering a comprehensive continuum of care, and to influence the health and human services community in the care of all people who are infected or affected by HIV/AIDS by participating on a local, regional, national and international level.

Catholic Charities Bureau The Catholic Charities Bureau of Jacksonville provides emergency assistance for food, shelter, and utilities, adoption services, foster home care, maternity services, counseling, substance abuse services, and information and referrals. The program also operates The AIDS Network, working with HIV infected/affected individuals and families. Services offered through the program are respite care through care teams, emotional and practical support, transportation, food, limited housekeeping, and even small home repairs.
