Department of Health Statewide Family Planning Program

Florida Statute authorizes the Department of Health to make available to citizens of the state of childbearing age comprehensive medical knowledge, assistance, and services relating to the planning of families and maternal health care. The overall program goal is to improve the health of Florida's women and children by reducing unplanned pregnancies and promoting positive pregnancy outcomes.

The program works to improve maternal and infant health, lower the incidence of unintended pregnancy, including teen pregnancy, reduce the incidence of abortion, and lower rates of sexually transmitted diseases, including HIV.
