1. Where were you born, how many siblings?

I was born in Northampton, Massachusetts. I am the oldest of four – one sister and two brothers.

2. List of jobs that you have had. How long have you been with the bureau, etc.?

I have been working for the bureau for 2 ½ years, but prior to that my jobs were very diverse. Although I have been a Registered Dietitian for over 30 years, I haven’t always worked as a dietitian. For five years before coming to the Child Care Food Program, I was an Adjunct Professor, both at TCC and FSU. I was also a certified Jazzercise Instructor for 20 years and still maintain certification as a Personal Trainer. As a dietitian, I have been in private practice and worked in health care settings, homes for people with disabilities, and dialysis units. I have also been very active as a community volunteer.

3. Are you married, what is your spouse’s name?

I am blessed to have been married to my best friend, Terry, for the past 24 years.

4. When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?

I was always interested in health-related fields and wanted to help people. When I was in high school, though, girls who were interested in medicine were encouraged to be nurses or social workers, not doctors. When I took a career aptitude test, besides nurse and social worker, one of my choices was a nun. Yes, that’s right – a nun as a career choice!

5. What are you passionate about?

I am most passionate about people taking care of themselves and living the best life they can. Of course, I think that a healthy diet and regular exercise can go a long way towards helping everyone achieve that goal. That’s why it is so exciting to work for the Child Care Food Program – every day our contractors help children eat healthy foods and stay active. If we all learned to do that as children, we would all be healthier adults.

6. What do you consider your greatest achievement?

My greatest achievement has been to raise two wonderful children, a daughter and a son, to adulthood. Every day I am proud to be their mother. Although, I can’t take any credit for their achievements – they accomplished those all on their own!
